NameCheap Review 2021 – Domain & Hosting

I have been using Namecheap Domain since Feb-2021 for my first website. And this is the actual experience review I have written on.

Namecheap Domain Registrar

In the domain name registration industry there are multiple companies providing services but among them Namecheap is quite low pricing and provides the best services.

Like many other registrars, Namecheap also offers hosting services.

They start as low as $0.99 for a domain for your first year with plenty of helpful add-ons.

Search and buy domains from Namecheap

In short, Namecheap is one of the top domain name registrars out there as an affordable and reliable domain and hosting option.

With millions of domain names at very low prices, Namecheap is a domain registrar that offers additional site hosting and management services.

Every domain registration comes with free privacy protection, domain name security, around the clock support, full DNS access, and a detailed knowledge base in case there’s something you need further clarification on.

If you register a .com domain with Namecheap, they’ll also throw in a WhoisGuard privacy protection for free. A lot of people don’t like publicly exposing their contact information, so this is a nice bonus.

Benefits of Namecheap

Easy to use: Namecheap has an easy user interface where you can purchase what you’re looking for relatively fast without confusing hoops to jump through. If tech isn’t your area of expertise, this is a great plus.

Free domain privacy: One of the best features of Namecheap is its forever free domain privacy. Other options like GoDaddy offer domain privacy for an extra fee and an add-on you have to continue to renew every so often if you want to keep it.

Affordable all around: Namecheap differentiates itself in price, which is great for beginner sites that want to get their start without burning through too much of their budget.

Free apps: Namecheap offers site-building apps that are both free and paid you can use for the success of your site, including logo building apps, site speed optimization, and even apps that help you with forming a proper LLC.

Great support: Namecheap offers live chat or a support ticket option if you run into site trouble and need someone to walk you through any troubleshooting you might need.

Easy domain transfer: Want to transfer your domain to Namecheap? You can easily do it by submitting a ticket with all the necessary details. It can take anywhere from 30 minutes to six business days.

Namecheap Shared Hosting Pricing Plans

Namecheap starts strong with a free domain name, speed, uptime, migrations, and extra plan features like backups.

1. Free Domain and Migration

Namecheap excels at domain names. So it only makes sense that they’ll happily throw one in if you sign up for their hosting plan. It’s free for the first year only, though. After that, you’d have to pay the renewal price of the domain. For example, for .com it’s $7.98/year.

If you already have a website set up somewhere else, they’ll also help you migrate the service for free. For a full cPanel migration, Namecheap guarantees to do it in less than 24 hours and with no more than 15 minutes of downtime. If they fail (or you’re not completely satisfied with how the migration went), they’ll credit your account with the value of your first purchase of shared hosting.

2. Good Uptime – 99.96%

Uptime is one of the most important criteria to look for in a host and it’s something that we always test.

Namecheap delivered a stellar 100% uptime the first month we signed up. That gave us plenty of excitement to see what was to come.

Last 12-month average uptime:

  • March 2021 – 99.99%
  • February 2021 – 99.89%
  • January 2021 – 99.98%
  • December 2020 – 100%
  • November 2020 – 99.89%
  • October 2020 – 100%
  • September 2020 – 99.93%
  • August 2020 – 99.91%
  • July 2020 – 99.99%
  • June 2020 – 99.99%
  • May 2020 – 99.98%
  • April 2020 – 100%

3. Decent Load Time 417 ms

After the uptime, the second most important criterion is speed. The reason it’s so important is that speed has been directly correlated with visitor happiness.

Namecheap has been able to post an average page speed of 417 ms over the past 12 months, which easily gets a thumbs up from our side.

4. 30-day Money-Back Guarantee

Namecheap does offer a rock-solid 30-day money-back guarantee. You’ve got a full month to see if their service is right for you. Otherwise, it’s not too late to back out and try something else.

5. Customer Support

Namecheap has a pretty good knowledge base platform. It contains detailed answers that should help solve the most common problems you run into.
